ICT in Curriculum & Pedagogy

With the acquisition of knowledge for education technology, teaching and learning in the school  can be less teacher-centered and more student-focused with greater emphasis on self-directed  and collaborative learning. ICT helps students to organise inquiry by facilitating discussion,  problem solving and peer feedback. With the use of ICT, students leverage open tools and apps  to work collaboratively with their peers. This form of learning helps students in developing 21st century competencies such as critical thinking skills.

Nurturing Responsible Digital Citizens

The advancement of technology allows students vast exposure to cyberspace. It is thus crucial  to equip students with the knowledge and awareness of topics related to Cyberwellness so that  they know how to be safe and use technology responsibly.

Students learn to be responsible digital citizens through explicit teaching during Form Teacher  Guidance Periods (FTGP), Cyberwellness STAR Booklets and Civic and Moral Education  (CME) lessons as well as short bite-sized presentations during fortnightly morning assembly. In  addition, Student Cyberwellness Ambassadors design and conduct activities for all students  during Cyberwellness Week. Through these activities, students learn Cyberwellness tips and  awareness of issues such as cyberbullying, excessive screen time and navigating the internet  safely and responsibly.

Cyberwellness Week - Together for a Better Internet

As part of the annual global initiative to promote safe, responsible and positive use of digital technology, Si Ling Primary joins in the annual celebration of Safer Internet Day. A line-up of activities during assembly and recesses were designed and organised throughout Week 6 of Term 1 with the help of our ICT Ambassadors!
