Primary 3 Learning Journey

Our Primary Three pupils went on a learning journey to the Singapore Zoological Gardens on 22 March 2016.

This learning journey aims to cultivate the curiosity in Science and the natural world among pupils and allow them to identify ways to help in the wildlife conservation.

During the trip to the Singapore Zoological Gardens, our pupils visited some of the endangered animals such as orang utan, white rhinoceros, polar bear and a few others, to find out more about their habitats and diets.

More importantly, they understood how human activities such as deforestation, poaching and environmental factors such as global warming can have negative impacts on wildlife populations. The pupils are willing to do their part to save these animals from extinction through sharing what they have learnt with their families and friends.

Earth Hour 

In conjunction with Earth Hour, pupils learned about Earth Hour and Climate Change through an assembly talk.

Every pupil was encouraged to pledge by choosing one of the following options:

·         to use fewer plastic bags

·         to switch light bulbs to energy saving LEDs

·         to turn up air conditioner temperature setting by 1 degree

·         to conserve water by taking shorter showers.

They could either pledge by taking photos at the photo-taking booth at ICare Corner or by writing what would they do during the Earth Hour on the “hearts”.

Pupils too participated in the Earth  Hour games in the Earth Hour Carnival.

In conjunction with Earth Hour, pupils learned about Earth Hour and Climate Change through an assembly talk. 

Meanwhile, Primary Four pupils attempted the Earth Hour trail.  The objectives of the trail are to learn about ways to conserve energy and water, and to learn about how they can care for the environment by practising the 3Rs - Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

Pupils became scientists and completed tasks that helped them look for ways to conserve the environment. In some of the stations, they measured how much water or electricity they can save by having shorter showers and switching the fans for a duration of the time respectively.
